Job Description
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah invites applications for an immediate tenure-track faculty opening at all ranks in the areas of Neural Engineering and Neural Interfaces. This position is part of the Transformative Excellence Program (TEP), the goal of which is to build faculty strength in strategic interdisciplinary areas through cluster hiring. Qualified candidates should possess a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, with post-doctoral experience viewed as a strength. Successful applicants are expected to establish and maintain outstanding externally funded research, and develop/teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Biomedical Engineering is one of the oldest and most recognized departments of its type, with 25 primary faculty, over 100 auxiliary faculty, ~150 graduate students and graduating 40-50 Bachelor of Science students annually. It is a research intensive department closely affiliated with health sciences. The department has access to wide collaboration opportunities and state-of-the-art research facilities and internationally recognized institutes across the campus, including the Sorenson Molecular Biotechnology Building, Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, Neuroscience Initiative, Nano Institute, Huntsman Cancer Institute, School of Medicine, and Nora Eccles Harrison CardioVascular Research and Training Institute.
